We were commissioned by Camden and Islington CCGs to develop the business case and contract for the mental health value based commissioning (VBC) lead provider contract, and to carry out negotiations to implement the service.

We facilitated the decision-making process between clinicians, CCG leads and finance teams, and supported the development of risk-based sharing agreements.

Through these meetings we agreed:

  • A bundled payment mechanism for the contract
  • How to incentivise the successful provider on health prevention and shifting care to the most efficient settings
  • The percentage of payments that will be based on activity and outcomes
  • The threshold for improvement, on a year-to-year basis

Our team played a crucial role in the process by supporting our customer throughout the process. The result was a successful implementation of the mental health VBC contract with the lead provider.
