“Nurse: just another word to describe a person strong enough to tolerate anything and soft enough to understand anyone.

I am proud to be a nurse for so many reasons. I enjoy the everyday challenges that arise in nursing and that no two days are the same. With nursing comes a wide range of diversity, which in my experience has contributed to better patient care and services in the NHS. The knowledge I have gained from working with so many amazing nurses over the years has been a privilege and I am continuously regurgitating their wise words and tips and tricks!

The biggest achievement during 20/21 for so many nurses and myself was the ability to adapt. We learned how to become IT savvy-ish and overcame working from home in isolation- something that was very alien to many in the field. We learned how to continue to work as a team despite not being able to grab a cup of tea and a debrief in the kitchen.

Personally, I have been able to continue to support patients and contribute towards their journey through COVID-19 with the hope it has made life a little easier and safer for them.”
