Supporting commissioners with new contract negotiations
Three CCGs in north and east London had concerns over quality and financial performance as part of their annual renegotiations with a local NHS trust and needed to review their quality, performance and renegotiation procedures.
We supported the conversion of the CCGs’ commissioning intentions into a detailed negotiation strategy, based on sound technical analysis of their requirements and an understanding of the opportunities and risks of a range of approaches. We made recommendations on the planning for and structure of negotiations and provided practical support and technical advice throughout the process.
The agreed contract released £2.5 million in savings
The resulting agreement reflected the CCGs’ commissioning intentions. Delivery to these performance improvements equated to a cost saving of £2.5 million for commissioners, providing stability to the local health economy and supporting the trust while it resolved significant operational and performance issues.
