Supporting two of London STPs from transformation into implementation
NHS England London Region’s Specialised Commissioning team asked us to support them in transforming specialised services across south east and south west London. Key programme objectives include maximising value for money in order to ensure sustainable service delivery whilst ensuring patient experience and quality of care are maintained and, wherever possible, improved.
Our ‘excellent’ approach has been shared with other London STPs
Our team worked with system leaders across south London and neighbouring STPs, providing programme management support to drive the transformation work forward at pace. This involved supporting the programme’s steering group to agree on which services to prioritise for transformation, and designing and running workshops with clinical leaders and patients in order to identify suitable opportunities for improvement. Our team also supported the design and delivery of broader communications and engagement associated with the programme (e.g. engagement of national charities, London Clinical Senate, equality groups and local Healthwatch organisations).
As a result of our work:
Senior leaders from providers and commissioners across the two south London STPs are working together effectively in order to address common system-wide challenges – including the significant growth in demand for specialised services and the associated cost pressures.
Our team delivered tailored programme management and stakeholder engagement support which led to a highly engaged steering group and support from wider stakeholders, including local clinicians and patients. This meant a smooth transition into the implementation stage of the programme.
The process used by the programme has been highlighted as an excellent approach which has been shared more widely with London STPs.
